ABOUT
Mike Wells currently serves as the Director of Bands for Plymouth-Canton Educational Park in Canton, MI. Mike holds a B.M. in Euphonium Performance from Western Michigan University and Post-Baccalaureate teaching certificate in music from Westfield State University in Westfield, MA.
Mike is currently in his 8th year at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, where he also serves as Program Coordinator for the nationally acclaimed Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Marching Band. During his time at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, the P-CEP Band program has earned consistent superior ratings at MSBOA district and state band festival, in addition to performing twice as a premier ensemble at the Michigan Music Conference. Students from P-CEP have also had the distinct pleasure of consistently representing the program on a state level as members of the MSBOA All-State ensembles each year.
Mike oversees the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Band Program, an all-inclusive program drawing from more than 6,200 students attending 3 high schools on the same campus. Included in the P-CEP Band program are five concert ensembles classes, Marching Band, Winter Guard, Winter Percussion, Jazz Band, and several chamber ensembles.
During his time at P-CEP, the Plymouth-Canton Marching Band has been awarded several MCBA State Championship, BOA Regional Finalist, and BOA Grand National Semi-Finalist awards.
In addition to serving as Director of Bands at P-CEP, Mike is also a sought after drill writer, designing ensembles across the country. In the past several years, these ensembles have enjoyed several KMEA State Championships, WSMA State Championships, BOA Super-Regional Finalist Appearances, MCBA State Finals Appearances, and WGI Finalist Appearances.
Mike has had the privilege of designing Internationally as well, having designed drill for the DCE Champion and DCI Open Class Finalist Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps from Dordrecht, Holland.
Additionally, Mike has been actively involved in the drum corps activity since 2008 and served in several roles for many corps, including the Boston Crusaders, Blue Knights, Troopers, and Teal Sound.
Mike is the recipient of the Activities Teacher of the Year and Mary Beth Carroll Extra Miler award from Plymouth-Canton Community Schools for outstanding dedication and service to the students of the P-CEP Band Program.
Mike currently resides in Canton with his wife, Alyssa who is an accomplished Musicologist. Together they have a dog, Gustav. As an alumnus of P-CEP, Mike owes his passion for music to his time spent playing in the concert and marching ensembles of the Plymouth Canton Community Schools.
